DOES SUPPLEMENT INTAKE NECESSARY?
Dont easily influenced by recent media hype where supplement intake is necessary in order to stay fit and healthy. This is because its benefit may not be evidently proven scientifically.
Instead, its intake may result in adverse effects which may impact negatively on overall health outcomes. Its effect varies between individuals depending on the person health status and their body response.
Consumers are encouraged to see medical practitioners for health examination and screening to establish their health status and the need for supplements if required.
For example pregnant lady may require some vitamins and minerals supplement during their pregnancy for healthy mother and developing baby. Other patient category who may benefit from nutrient supplement includes breastfeeding mother, bed ridden patient, children with failure to thrive and frail elderly.
Supplement can be categorized into 4 classes namely vitamin, mineral, multivitamin, herbal and fish oil.
For daily requirement of nutrient to maintain good health balanced and complete diet is sufficient. This include source of carbohydrate and protein, vegetables, fruits and dairy’s. Complete and balanced diets ensure body to have sufficient amount of vitamin, mineral, fiber and nutrients for good health outcome.
