25 February 2026 – The Sports and Welfare Club of the University Health Centre (PKU), through the initiative of Mr. Shaiful Md Noor as the Welfare and Spiritual Bureau representative, organized a gotong-royong (communal cooking activity) to prepare bubur lambuk for distribution to PKU staff and PKU clients in conjunction with the month of Ramadan. The program aimed to strengthen the spirit of ukhuwah (brotherhood) among PKU members while promoting the practice of charity and togetherness during Ramadan.
The cooking activity began as early as 8:30 a.m., involving 30 volunteers from among PKU staff. The ingredients used for cooking were contributed by PKU staff, along with their voluntary efforts to make the program a success. This was the first time such a program had been organized at PKU. The cooperation shown throughout the preparation of ingredients, cooking, and packaging reflected a strong spirit of teamwork.
Mr. Azuan Halif Abdul Majid, Chairman of the PKU Sports and Welfare Club, said that the program was inspired by an idea from one of the club members who wanted to introduce a different approach to doing charitable acts during Ramadan.“This year we are introducing something different by preparing bubur lambuk using a recipe from Kampung Baru to be shared with all PKU staff,” he said, while expressing hope that more PKU staff would join the club as members. The bubur lambuk was then distributed to PKU staff and clients, with a total of 300 containers prepared and handed out after the cooking was completed at around 1:00 p.m.
