June 6, 2024 - The Mquit Implementation Committee (University Health Center Program, UPM) has set up the Mquit booth in conjunction with the annual Tobacco-Free Week celebration, observed on May 31 each year. The theme for 2024 is “Protecting Children from the Influence of the Tobacco Industry.”
The theme aims to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and the influence of the tobacco industry, particularly among adolescents and children. This aligns with the objectives outlined in Article 5.3 of the World Health Organization Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), which focuses on protecting against the tobacco industry’s attempts to weaken effective tobacco control legislation.

The Mquit booth targets campus residents, especially students, to promote health awareness and provide information related to the hazards of smoking. The booth operates from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM in the PKU Main Lobby. Activities include a health exhibition on smoking hazards, Mquit program consultations, carbon monoxide testing, and quizzes. A total of 28 participants, including students and UPM staff, took part in the quiz.
We hope that this initiative will enhance interest, understanding, and commitment among the UPM community to lead a tobacco-free lifestyle.
