World Heart Day has been celebrated on September 29th since 2000 to raise public awareness oN good heart care. The theme of World Heart Day this year is "USE HEART FOR EVERY HEART".
Although our heart is only about the size of a fist, it is responsible for pumping the blood throughout the body every day from the time we are born until our last breath. On average, the normal human heart rate at rest is 60-90 times per minute, and on average it beats 85 thousand times per day. Very amazing!
Unlike the other cells that can multiply and replace damaged cells, heart cells do not have that capability. For example, when your skin is injured, the body will signal the skin cells to form new cells to replace the dead cells (wounds). After a few days, the wound will heal with a new cells and same function. However, if our heart cells or tissue are injured, it will not be able to produce new cells. Instead, it will form a scar and further interfere with the heart's ability to pump blood. Therefore, it needs to be taken care of as best as possible.
Coronary heart disease is the main cause of death globally and the number of deaths caused by it continues to increase every year even though the prevention of this disease is not that complicated, such as :
1.Avoid smoking and drinking alcohol.
2. Self monitoring blood pressure and get profesional guidance from time to time, to maintain it within the normal range of 120/80 mmHg
3.Keep an eye on your cholesterol levels and keep them within the normal range.
4. Reduce your salt intake.
5. Maintain healthy weight and avoid obesity
6. Practice an active lifestyle
7. Eat nutritious foods.
USE HEART means to think differently. To make the right decisions. To act with courage. To help others. To engage with this important cause. The heart is the only organ you can hear and feel. It is the first and last sign of life. It is one of the few things with the potential to unite all of us as people.
FOR EVERY HEART involves the use of “FOR” and swings the focus from the actions themselves to the beneficiaries of the actions, for humantity, nature and yourself
