Serdang, 21 April 2026 – The University Health Centre (PKU), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organised the First Aid in Rugby (FAIR) Level 1 Course for its medical staff from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The course was held at the Seminar Room, University Health Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The primary objective of the course was to provide exposure and training to PKU staff regarding their roles and responsibilities as First Responders during standby duties for sports activities and rugby tournaments involving UPM students and staff.
A total of 25 staff members from the University Health Centre participated in the programme. The participants comprised Medical Officers, Assistant Medical Officers, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Healthcare Assistants, and Drivers (General Service Assistants).
The training sessions were conducted by officers from the Malaysia Rugby Union, namely:
Throughout the course, participants were provided with both theoretical and practical exposure related to the management of emergency first aid during rugby matches, sports injury management techniques, on-field safety procedures, handling injured players, and immediate response measures during emergency situations in sporting events.
The organisation of the First Aid in Rugby (FAIR) Level 1 Course by the University Health Centre, UPM, is expected to enhance the participants’ knowledge, practical skills, and preparedness in managing injuries and emergency situations during rugby activities. In addition, the programme aims to ensure that immediate medical assistance can be delivered promptly, accurately, and effectively.
