Serdang, 13 and 14 May 2026 – The University Health Centre (PKU), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Basic Life Support (BLS) (Skim U) Course from 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. The session on 13 May 2026 was held at the Seminar Room, University Health Centre, while the session on 14 May 2026 took place at the Clinical Simulation Lab, Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia.
The main objective of the course was to enhance the competency of medical staff in managing patients during emergency situations in the field. A total of 40 staff members from the University Health Centre participated in the course. The participants consisted of Medical Officers, Dental Officers, Dental Surgery Assistants, Assistant Engineers, Senior Medical Laboratory Technologists, Radiographers, Rehabilitation Officers, Nurses, Healthcare Assistant Pharmacists, Administrative Assistants, and General Service Assistants serving at their respective institutions.

The course sessions were conducted by Medical Officers and officers from Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia. Throughout the programme, participants were exposed to and trained in essential emergency response procedures, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) techniques, the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED), management of unconscious victims, respiratory assistance, and immediate response measures during emergency situations.
The organisation of the Basic Life Support (BLS) (Skim U) Course is expected to enhance the knowledge, skills, and preparedness of staff in handling emergency situations, thereby ensuring that early assistance can be delivered accurately, promptly, and effectively.
