Occupational Health Services

University Health Center UPM’s Occupational Health & Safety services is a campus-based medical clinic that offers preventive and treatment services for work-related injuries and illnesses, and occupational medical surveillance programs. Our service is responsible for monitoring the health and safety of staff and students of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This is to establish and maintain a safe and healthy working environment which will facilitate optimal physical and mental health. This unit is run by accredited officers, including Occupational Health Doctors and Occupational Health Nurses registered with Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and Department of Occupational Safety and Health Malaysia (DOSH).

Among the services available are:

i) Occupational Health Surveillance Programs for UPM staff exposed to Hazardous Chemicals (USECCH 2000, Workers Safety & Health Act 1994), and Radiation Protection Rules (Basic Safety Standard) 1988, Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 at work, while serving as UPM staff. *

ii) Occupation Pre-Placement Medical Checkup Program. *

iii) Occupational Health Screening Program (Ergonomics).

iv) To arrange and implement occupational health promotion, such as prevention & control programs at work. This is to prevent UPM staff from accidents / injuries / occupational diseases.*

v) Monitoring injuries, accidents or illnesses occurring at UPM and Occupational Health cases that been treated at University Health Center, UPM.

vi) Provide training and first aid courses to UPM staff and students.

vii) Consultation by Occupational Health and Safety Doctor for UPM faculty and staff.

viii) Health screening program of JPJ license application for UPM commercial vehicle drivers.

* This program is a joint collaboration between the University Health Center (PKU) and the Office of Occupational Safety and Health (PPKKP), UPM.
